RE: Qurator's Mischievous Mondays | Frost Forward

The reversal of the Earth's magnetic poles ended up becoming the beginning of humanity's extinction. This natural process unexpectedly accelerated the cooling of the planet's core. The planet's frozen regions began to gain territory, part of the sea began to freeze, and the white continent became a weapon that is swallowing all life. Foreseeing such situations, some human beings began to buy and adapt underground facilities to protect against the intense cold that was to come. After obtaining privileged information, I dedicated a large part of my fortune to acquiring a place in the Underground City of Montreal. The place was built so that the people of the region could survive the extreme winter. While all humans aware of the information about the end of the world prepared themselves, humanity survived day by day. "Ignorance is a gift." The people who were aware of the dark future spent day and night working on structures, generators, food reserves, and containment strategies that could minimize the cold that was to come. After a year of research, the devastating news arrived: the planet's inner core was barely producing heat, and the Earth's temperature would drop drastically, by about 1ºC per day. The information was leaked and spread worldwide. Desperation led people to commit illegal acts of all kinds, but the real disaster was yet to come. Places that had a daily average of 35ºC were now at a freezing temperature of 5ºC after a month. People were turning into ice statues. 95% of humans had ceased to exist before the planet's temperature reached negative temperatures. Although I was worried about the people of the world, was living in the inner parts of the planet with my family. The walls were lined with thick layers of metal, an area with food for about 100 years, and some heating devices, as well as rechargeable power generators using mechanical force. At first, everything was fine, but we lost track of time. I don't know if it was weeks or months that had passed, but the cold caught up with us, the heaters started to fail over time, there wasn't much motivation to produce energy for the generator, breathing started to get labored, even with several layers of clothing I couldn't distinguish what I was touching, everything was cold, extremely cold, my mind was slow... In a last breath before succumbing to the cold, I asked myself: is this the end of humanity?
