RE: Get Large Rewards for Sharing Hive Links on Reddit! And Win Prizes! 👇 HivePosh Contest #20
You are viewing a single comment's thread:
so many shared links from Hive. Is this too much?
If it's not too much (still) in that certain sub you mentioned, it will become too much in another sub. Like, we have active sharing in r/veganrecipes, daily 2 Hive links or even 3 on some days. So far it's okay for r/veganrecipes. But what if we get more users with the focus on recipes? What if I post an invite post in Hive cooking communities saying "guys, join HivePosh and share your recipes in this and that and r/veganrecipes"?
I don't know what to do with that but we should start thinking about such things.
but the original writer of the posting gets not that much. Do you think, that is fair?
My opinion: if someone wants to get more $HIVE from their posts, they should join HivePosh. Many people have reasons not to join (lack of time, for example) but there is a big crowd that is lazy to do anything except posting. I am sure many people who whine about "why OCD never upvotes me??" saw this title:
saw this title and thought "But I don't have an account on Reddit".
If you don't have an account on Reddit, create one to get OCD upvotes! That simple.
So. We have many people posting and few people sharing. So, sharing should earn more. Sharers in general are more valuable for Hive than passive posters.
And not all users like it, when their postings are shared somewhere else
We should manage this somehow, for sure. HivePosh devs don't have time to do extra work, and I don't have access to anything except @poshtoken.
Generally, devs don't want strangers to see their work from inside. Saying here in general, so I mean PeakD and Ecency as well. As soon as you allow someone to see your work from inside (statistics, code), you risk losing your job eventually - someone can say "what a mess you have here, guys" or "why you charge that much for that little" or "I can do this work better, faster, and cheaper", etc. So no dev would agree for that without much pressure.
So I am returning to "we should manage this somehow" and suggest to create a list of users who don't want their posts are shared.
I agree; authors who would like rewards can share their posts, too! It incentivizes them to share.
I think those who don't want their posts shared should not post them online. Online content is bound to be shared. I am careful about what I share now, as Reddit doesn't like other people's life stories; they want facts and processes.
If one is interested in joining, they will make time. No time is not an excuse.
I have also foreseen the possible influx of sharers in the near future; we need to be careful and mindful. It is understandable that a contest makes people impulsive. I was terrible at that, but I learned control (after a few bans, etc., haha!). We learn the hard way.
I can’t really think of a way to control the excessive influx of sharers that could alarm the mods or Reddit. Unless it can be controlled on the RedditPosh side, for example, limiting the number of shares per day in each sub.
Redditposh could control how many shares per sub per day i guess, but can't stop you to still post a link on reddit, so the sub would still be flooded
Something needs looking into.
I think everyone should space out shares over time and engage with the community instead of just posting links and follow subreddit rules about link sharing.
Yeah, some sub want engagement to allow blog posts
Even worse: several irresponsible people would be enough.
Every new feature for HivePosh means a new payment to devs.
To change a small detail - it's about disturbing devs.
I have access to nothing except @poshtoken. (It's not a surprise: I am new in HivePosh, and had not time to earn trust).
Thus, changing anything can take ages of time. (Devs also need time for coding, sometimes, weeks or months).
The shortest way is: when something is very wrong, I can ask a user to stop doing something (like, overusing a sub). If this user doesn't care, I can ask Acid to ask devs to ban that person for a month from HivePosh. But if I often disturb Acid about banning people on my behalf, I'll be banned myself sooner or later 😁 The best solution here: speaking on behalf of the core HivePosh users. Do we need a council? 😁 @davideownzall maybe a discord channel is needed? Any suggestions made on behalf of the core HivePosh users would sound much much better than another time-consuming idea from x-rain. 😁
Right, right. The best solution is to have rules in place so we don't have to disturb Acid to ban someone. If the rules are not followed, then you ban, simple.
As Dev can't do immediate change, then definitely have a rule to follow.
An example of the rule: avoid excessive posting (spam prevention)
You may not post more than X number per week.
Users are limited to (number) posts per (timeframe) to maintain quality and prevent spam.
Also, the consecutive post should be within ( maybe 2 days interval?)
And definitely, DO NOT post repetitive content or share the same content with a different sub; I've tried and tested it—you'll be called a bot.
In a big sub like crypto, I think no more than two weekly posts are enough. This week, I posted a couple of times there with three-day intervals only because I caught some big news that I feel is relevant to the sub, but I wouldn't just post for the sake of posting.
Instead of reporting individuals often, gathering feedback from users before escalating might carry more weight. So, I agree with the Discord channel, which could help core users discuss moderation issues so we can make efficient decisions.
The rules will only help at the start while the dev is doing their side to limit the sharing automatically (if that is possible)
In my opinion, this is very important and needs to be prioritised for long-term sharing on Reddit.
Eheh yea that's one of the reasons I suggested a discord, a discussion here on comments can be endless and then lost by time, I could set up one then I think
I usually limit to 2-3 max share a day when I have time between work and family so one after the other, and at least give 2-3 days break before reshare stuff in a sub
@x-rain:
Sharing links on reddit may result in some new users on Hive, that's good. But if someone just shares a lot of links from others, does not produce any own content and transfers all the rewards somewhere else, I think that is milking the chain. And I don't think this was meant with the contest and in the long run is not good for Hive.
This is not really a good ratio and curators here on Hive are looking into such metrics recently.

There is a discussion about this special metric, but I think, we should talk about how we go further with this contest when more users join.

I don't agree. HivePosh has only several exceptional sharers, and they (us) are the main achievement of HivePosh. HivePosh was zero before the contest.
If HivePosh is supported by Hive Fund one day, the chain will benefit a lot. To reach the point when HivePosh can hope for Hive Fund, we need the help of everyone. Alas, among several thousands of Hivers, we could find only a few skillful users with free time for Reddit activity. 15.000 visitors a month costs several thousands of dollars by means of Google Ads. What we do in HivePosh isn't just posting pictures and random thoughts. If someone wants to withdraw all HivePosh rewards, that's fine.
Your HP should grow, that's the rule if you want good rewards. You should be rooted on Hive, to be well rewarded. As for the rest... If we want people to join Hive, we should care about good content - people leave if they see not that interesting posts. This KE approach is the best way to kill good content on Hive.
Ok, we will see how things develop.
Interesting point.
